Care Assistant for a young person F/T@ £12.71/hr in Stockton-on-tees - Stockton-on-Tees - TS19

(Monday 10am-3pm, Tuesday 10am-3pm – some weekends – to be discussed) 
Job-share will also be considered.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide essential support to a client (uses they/them pronouns) in the Stockton area, ideally 10am-3pm Monday and Tuesdays. The ideal candidate should be aged 18 years and over, possess a UK driving licence, and have the right to work in the UK. If you are a caring and adaptable individual with a strong commitment to client well-being, we encourage you to apply. Our client is in their mid-twenties and is currently looking to expand on their interests, and experience new things. They have mobility issues and would like support getting around. Currently our client doesn’t need assistance with personal care however, their current health condition could change in the future leading to a different level of support.

Essential Criteria:
● Driving Skills: A car driver with a UK driving licence is essential, as driving responsibilities are integral to the role (would need business car insurance). Ability to assist with mobility aid e.g. walker and an understanding of mobility issues.
● Equality and diversity: It is extremely important to have an inclusive attitude of acceptance and an open mind.
● Knowledge: A good understanding of mental health issues, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergence, and disability. 
● Background Check: DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) to be completed upon successful interview.
● Comfort with Cats: Candidates must be comfortable around cats, as there is a cat in the client's home.
● Communication: Good communication skills and an attunement to both verbal and non-verbal communication.
● An empowered approach to support focusing on strengths. A patient attitude to allow the client time to process their thoughts and feelings.
● Confidentiality: A strong understanding of confidentiality is essential for this role.
● Flexibility: Openness to travelling and activities (mileage will be discussed)

● Collaborative and Self-Motivated: The ability to work collaboratively and be self-motivated is advantageous.
● Responsiveness: Being responsive, capable of putting plans into action, and following instructions is essential. It is important to allow the client their own autonomy.
● Adaptability: Adapting to changing circumstances and managing changes well is important. 
● Compassion: A compassionate and can-do caring attitude is highly desired.
● Proactivity: Being proactive and dedicated to understanding the changing needs of the client is key.
● Creativity: Client may need assistance with styling and appearance and experimenting with hair and make-up looks.

Personal Requirements:
As a Personal Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

● Supporting the client in attending social groups and activities.
● Making phone calls and sending emails as and when required on behalf of the client.
● Attending local appointments
● Providing support with grounding techniques and helping the client process information. 
● Offering some assistance with light housework.
