JOB PURPOSE: | To provide support for an11-year-old girl who has a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD and learning disability.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Support Worker to provide support for an 11-year-old child. The support is required to enable the child to access age appropriate leisure activities in the local community and to participate in meaningful play.
THIS IS A SCHOOL HOLIDAY ONLY POSITION
The child is an active energetic young lady with lots of enthusiasm, she loves to swing, climb, jump, dance. Some of her favourite things include colouring in, music, teddies and Pokémon. She is a friendly, chatty individual who prefers to know what is happening around her, what the routine will be and when she will be taking part.
MAIN DUTIES
- You will be required to anticipate the child’s needs, as she has some limited verbal communication. She may also need support dealing with her sensory difficulties and social interactions.
- Provide social stimulation and progressive levels of activity.
- Assist the child to build appropriate relationships with peers within the wider community.
- The child requires limited support with aspects of personal care, potentially including wiping and dressing.
- Some support with mealtimes, mostly encouragement to focus on the task.
- You will be required to ensure the safety of the child at all times as she has a limited awareness of safety and risks.
Hours
5 hours per week during school holidays only (13 weeks per year). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the child and availability of the worker.
Rate of pay
£10.82 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata
Person Specification
Successful applicant must:
- Have at least 12 months experience working with children who have disabilities
- Have a positive understanding towards children with disabilities
- Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
- Have a high degree of initiative
- Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised.
- Be flexible
- Have a happy, positive and caring nature.
- Respect confidentiality.
Car driver essential and must have business insurance.
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
