| JOB PURPOSE: | We are looking to recruit a support worker for a 16 year old young woman who has a diagnosis of Autism, moderate Learning Disability & ADHD.

We are looking to recruit a committed, friendly support worker to provide enabling support for a young person in the Ashington area. The young woman has a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and a moderate learning disability.
The young woman has a sweet nature, can make her needs known and prefers things to be completed in her own way. She is verbal and can communicate her wants and needs to those involved in her support.
She is like any 16-year-old and enjoys accessing her mobile phone, doing a spot of shopping and visiting McDonalds/Weatherspoon’s for lunch. She enjoys bowling, walks on the beach, and is enthralled with Princesses – especially Elsa and Anna from Frozen. Somebody willing to access these activities is preferred.
We are looking for somebody with a calm, friendly nature, preferably female as there is a requirement to prompt with personal care. The support worker is required to promote independence within the young woman, supporting with building her confidence, gaining experience of accessing new social activities and encouraging the development of life skills.
The young person does have some awareness of risk and danger but there is a requirement for the support worker to always keep her safe and free from harm.
Hours
- 3 hours per week on Saturday OR Sunday during term time.
- 6 hours per week during all school holiday weeks – days to be arranged and flexibility required
Rates of pay
- £10.82 per hour.
- 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
- Out of pocket expenses will be met by the Employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant will need the following:
· a positive understanding about young people who have disabilities
· knowledge and experience (formal or informal) of working with young people with Autism and complex needs would be an advantage
· have a high degree of initiative
· be punctual, reliable and committed to the role
· have a happy, positive and caring nature
· respect confidentiality
This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references (cost to be met by Employer).
Car driver is essential and must have Business Insurance.
