JOB PURPOSE: | To provide enabling support for a 17-year-old young man with a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, OCD and anxiety

Main Duties
We are looking to recruit a support worker to provide 1:1 enabling support for the young man both within his own home and in the local community, accessing age-appropriate activities.
The young person has a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, anxiety and OCD. The young man enjoys being out and about. He can present with challenging behaviour linked to anxieties around unknown situations and routine changes. Family will provide guidance on how best to manage these behaviours.
The young man enjoys travelling to various places on the bus and a companion card will be provided for such travel. He enjoys visiting Newcastle, Metro Centre and having meals out in restaurants. Other activities to be accessed during the enabling time include visits to the park to see the ducks, the beach on warm sunny days and visiting local woodlands where exploration can take place.
The client has awareness of risk but guidance to promote understanding of life skills and transitioning into adulthood is a key aspect of this role.
There will be medication to be administered with this role and full training and guidance will be provided prior to commencing employment.
Hours
- 4 Hours per week to be used flexibility to meet needs of the client and the availability of the worker
Rate of pay
£10.82 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by employer.

- Be able to respond patiently, positively and sensitively to any changes in behaviour
- Have a high degree of initiative
- Be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised
- Be flexible
- Have a happy, positive and caring nature
- Respect confidentiality
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.
Where required training will be provided either online or on the job.
