Care Assistant for a person F/T@ £11.44/hr in Carshalton - FTE - £0.0k - CARSHALTON - SM5

My husband Geoff is a man in his early sixties who was diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimers disease.  Geoff is physically fit and healthy.  He enjoys going to the gym, playing golf, going for walks via a coffee shop and he now attends Walking Football on a Wednesday, accompanied by his current PA who takes him there on the bus.  Geoff gave up work over five years' ago as he was starting to show signs of memory loss and could not continue.  He volunteered for a little at Citizens' Advice Bureau but stopped that a couple of years' ago too.

Geoff is struggling with loneliness, lack of social contact during the day.  Although some of his friends still see him from time to time this is not regularly.  The Alzheimers creates some challengers for Geoff in dealing with dates and times, being able to communicate and complete longer sentences and finding the right words.  This also means he finds some social situations harder.

We are looking for a companion/personal assistant (preferably male if possible!) who could accompany Geoff on walks, going shopping,taking part in activities and help with using his phone and responding to texts and WhatsApp messages.  Looking for a non smoker who likes cats too.

We are looking for someone to work two days a week, Wednesday and Fridays and occasionally other days if I am required to cover my colleage at work when she is on annual leave.

His current PA is completing a Masters shortly and will be looking for alternative employment.  We are hoping to get someone place very soon so that there can be an overlap.
