Job Reference (5e043258)
Are you a committed individual looking to make a difference in somebodies' day to day life?
Do you want to work in a part time role with flexibility?
Do you enjoy being outside, visiting local attractions and keeping busy?
I am a 35 year old gentleman living in my family home in the Bedlington area, I am normally supported by my parents and my sister.
I am looking for 1 or 2 support workers/carers to help me to access social activities outside of the home and in the future, provide some respite support so my main carers can have a rest.
I would like the support to be in blocks of hours on an evening or weekend as I attend day services Monday to Friday. I am flexible on when the support can be delivered and hope my support workers and family can organise this to allow flexibility from both sides.
I have a diagnosis of autism, a severe learning disability and cerebral palsy. I have a right sided hemiplegia for which I require physical aid and use a wheelchair outside of the home. I have medication for epileptic seizures and full training will be provided on this. I need somebody who is physically able to push my wheelchair around local attractions.
I am nonverbal and have limited means to express my needs. I rely on my carers to anticipate and predict my needs. My family will provide guidance in the first instance, with understanding my communication and behaviours.
I will need my carers to help keep me safe from danger at all times during support.
I enjoy being outside and spending time at Cragside, Gibside Hall and other outdoor venues. I am very keen on swimming and somebody willing to do this activity with me would be greatly appreciated.
I require support with all aspects of day-to-day life and the duties of the worker will include, but not be limited to, medication administration, personal care, preparation of meals and drinks, laundry and household tasks directly linked to my needs.
A valid, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle insured with Business use insurance would be preferable.
