Job Purpose
 
To assist our mother with a variety of daily living tasks, enabling her to live an independent personal and social life, and support her overall quality of life.
          
Location: Long Stratton, NR15
 
Details
 
Duties to include:
 
·      Support with preparing snacks, meals and drinks throughout the day.
·      Support with domestic duties including changing bed linen, doing laundry, folding laundry and hoovering.
·      Support with personal care including, showering, washing, dressing, and use of the commode.
·      Support with general errands such as collecting prescriptions.
·      Providing companionship and forming a friendly yet professional relationship with our mother and her husband.
·      Support with attending appointments and accessing the local community.
·      Support with completing transfers using a ceiling mounted hoist (instructions to be provided).
·      Wheelchair handling.
·      Any other reasonable duties as required.
 
Person specification
 
Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. My assessment of these, both on application and at interview, will be the main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting your application.
Essential
 
·      Driving license holder with own vehicle and appropriate business insurance.
 
Desirable
 
·      Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant in a similar role.
·      Previous experience caring for someone in a wheelchair and using a ceiling mounted hoist.
·      Ability to work well with close family members of the service user.
·      Ability to be flexible should the need arise.
·      Friendly and a good communicator.
·      Catheter care experience.
 
Summary terms and conditions
 
·      The rate of pay for this position is £ 12.
 
·      You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
                                            
·      Hours and times of work: 28 hours per week job share, working 4 hours per day, providing 7-day care. Hours of work will be 8am-12 noon. Hours will be worked on a rota/shift pattern as we are looking for at least two PAs to work alongside each other, with an expectation being that you will provide weekend cover on rotation. Additional hours available to cover sickness/holiday. Hours/times of work to be discussed further at interview.
 
The post is subject to the following
 
·      A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.

·      Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
 
·      Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
