Purpose of job
My husband Michael has been diagnosed with Dementia . He currently lives in assisted living accommodation (LS17 Moortown) and wishes to remain living there, and needs assistance in supporting him to maintain this goal. Michael has Spondylitis and age related Arthritis and therefore has limited mobility.
A PA is required to support Michael in the community and reduce any barriers where possible. I'm looking for a bright and bubbly PA for my husband, with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on life.
Ideal candidates would have a good understanding (or a willingness to learn) about his condition. A car driver with own transport is essential. Previous experience is preferred but not a requirement.
Supervision
Michael’s personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. She/he must always ask what Michael requires and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance he needs or how it should be carried out. She/he should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.
Main Activities
Michael’s personal assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature.
· Ensuring that you and Michael get to whatever activity is planned on time and safely.
· Remain with Michael at all times.
· Prompt Michael so he is wearing the appropriate clothing when going out in the community (weather).
· No actual personal care is required but Michael may need prompting and reminding in relation to his personal hygiene.
· Take Michael out to Ilkley in your car or using public transport (Mileage will be paid) once per week and visiting Leeds City Centre.
· Support Michael with monetary transactions.
