SW for 17-yo male with ASD/LD in LS25, flexibly 10 h per week / 3-4 days per month - LEEDS - LS25

• Location is Garforth, LS25, with excellent transport links to Leeds, York, and Selby.
• Work days and times are flexible, arranged by mutual agreement monthly in advance. Typical hours are from 10 am on weekend days (Sat or Sun) for ~8 hour sessions. More hours are available on weekdays in school holidays. Average total working hours  ~ 30-40 hours per month.
• Our son is non-verbal with ASD and LD, using gestures and Makaton to communicate. Experience with working with special needs children and Makaton would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite. You should be patient, empathetic, a good listener, and resourceful.
• The underlying goal will be to assist in developing our son's communication and social skills, and help him to reduce anxiety and burn off energy by engagement in physical activity. Examples of his favourite activities include: travelling anywhere by train or bus; walking; the National Railway Museum in York; trips to the cinema.  He enjoys any structured activity that involves travelling.
• You do not need a car but if you choose to use yours on the job you must provide your own business insurance. On the job PA expenses that are covered include any public transport and venue entry expenses.
• Ideally you will have a current portable/online DBS check to speed up the employment process. If you don't have this, you are still welcome to apply but please note that in our experience checks take 6 - 8 weeks to complete before you can start work. 
• We typically have two PAs in our employment at any one time, so our existing PAs can provide shadowing/on the job training over your first few sessions.
