Hourly Rate is £12.24 please note rate shown below is incorrect ie £11.44
A team to support hours below 
8:30 - 16:30 Monday to Saturday 
8:30 - 14:30 Sunday
DBS will be completed prior to starting the role and 2 references sought

Job purpose: 
■ To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who requires care with care and support to live his personal and social life according to his wishes and interests. 
■ This role may involve occasional overnight support. 

About the employer: 
■ The person who requires care is a man in his mid-50s who needs care.   
■ He is interested in sport (particularly football), music, current affairs, satire, dog walking and going out and about.  
■ He has a brain injury following a stroke.  He is a wheelchair user and has aphasia.  He is catheterised and needs continence support.  He has fatigue and memory loss. 
■ He is currently transferred using a sara stedy.  He can stand and is working with physios towards step transferring.  

■ The household includes the employers, two teenage children and a small dog.

Main duties: 

■ Social duties, for example, support to: 
■ keep in touch and socialise with family and friends 
■ attend adult social care classes where appropriate
■ attend medical appointments and physio 

■ do hobbies such as going to cafes, dog walking, gardening, going to the gym or playing a sport if possible 

■ attend social events such as his kid’s concerts, music gigs or the cinema 

■ Personal care, for example, support with bathing, showering, beard trimming, teeth cleaning, dressing, catheter care, administering medication (if needed).

■ Other support such as practice with speaking, reading, writing and performing exercises/physiotherapy 

■ Domestic duties, for example, support with grocery shopping, cooking and serving nutritious meals and snacks, some cleaning, changing linen, laundry, and ironing. 

■ Anything else that may be required by the employer, in discussion with the PA.

These duties may vary from day to day in discussion with the employer. 

Type of person the employer is looking for: 

■ A team of PAs will be required to ensure cover during the week and over holiday periods.

■ Someone who is honest, reliable and a good communicator.  It is very important that the PA is able to build a good relationship with the person who requires care based on trust, humour and respect for his dignity.  The PA should be flexible, adaptable, positive, easy going, and able to foresee necessary tasks.  A willingness to support trips is desirable. 

■ An understanding of brain injury and neuro rehab and its frustrations would be beneficial.  

■ Due to the nature of this role including medical/personal care the potential employer would prefer male applicants, but all applicants will be considered.

·       Full training will be given, with supported sessions during the first few weeks of working induction and supervision.

These hours may be flexible as mutually agreed. 

·       Rate of pay: £12.24 per hour.  One PA to take on supervisory role at £12.42 per hour.  

Skills, qualifications and experience: 

·       Essential: 
o   driving licence (at least 1 PA) and ability to drive wheelchair accessible vehicle
o   ability to undertake personal care including catheter support
o   able to support physio and trips out 
o   confidentiality 
o   good communicator 
o   good at building relationships and good sense of humour
·       Preferred: 
o   Interest in football 
o   Able to support gym sessions
o   likes dogs and dog walking
