Personal Assistant Needed for Young Man with Complex Medical and Physical Needs.

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of others?

We are seeking a kind and reliable personal assistant to provide exceptional care for a 25-year-old man with complex medical needs. He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy (dystonic and spastic type), requiring the use of a gastrostomy tube for feeding, and experiences epilepsy, complex suctioning needs, obstructed airway apnea, and requires specialized seating for optimal positioning and pressure management.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.)
Providing nutritional support through the gastrostomy tube
Performing airway suctioning as needed
Monitoring vital signs and reporting any concerns to the healthcare team
Implementing positioning strategies and adjustments in the specialized seating system and sleep system
Ensuring adequate hydration
Providing transportation to day centre, community and social outings
Engaging in leisure activities and social interaction
Offering emotional support and companionship

Qualifications: Preferred

Experience caring for individuals with complex medical needs, including cerebral palsy
Familiarity with gastrostomy tube feeding and airway suctioning techniques
Strong understanding of positioning and pressure management principles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preparing and administering of medication
Compassionate, patient, and reliable
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Positive attitude and a commitment to providing quality care
Very confident driver with a few years local driving experience.
Willing to carry out therapies including hydrotherapy.
