I am 91 and live with my wife in Halesworth. I have spinal stenosis and myelopathy, so mobility is limited, but I am able to walk with a frame. I wear a pad, as I occasionally have continence issues. I use a mobility scooter in town and wheelchair at times. I am a poet and recently retired creative writing teacher. My wife is younger than me and is often busy with family and grandchildren, sometimes staying away for weekends. As a live in carer, there will be quiet times, but it is reassuring for us to know that you will be 'on call' during working hours if needed. We live in a big house with plenty of room, in the middle of a beautiful town. Obviously you will have your own room but also a private bathroom.
The working day is from 8.00am to 9.00pm, with a 2 hour break. There are currently no requirements for assistance during the night, but you will be 'on call' at this time for emergencies.
You will be a part of an ongoing rota with others for a minimum of two weeks at a time. Hopefully, we can come to a mutual arrangement with other carers. We imagine a max of three carers.
