Personal Care Assistant for a young boy 6 hrs per week @ £13.09/hr in Cramlington - Cramlington - NE23

Do you like to make a difference to children and their families?

We are looking to recruit a Personal Assistant/Enabler for a non-verbal six-year-old boy with Global Developmental Delay, who presents as a toddler. This little boy has a cheeky little face and happy disposition. He communicates his feelings of frustration by screaming but he can take you to something of interest to him, which is often sensory, and point.

You will need to be quick on your feet and provide constant supervision as he has no danger awareness and despite his low muscle tone, for which he will sometimes use a pushchair when out, he is fast when he decides he wants to go somewhere!

There will be some personal care tasks involved within this role. Ideally, you will have some experience of working with children with complex needs and have, or be prepared to undertake paediatric first aid training, as when eating he is at risk of choking. If you are caring, patient and vigilant, you would be able to make an incredible difference to this little boy and his family by taking him out to engage with activities in the community.

This will provide some much-needed respite for his loving, supportive family. 
Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour
 
Hours Breakdown:  6 hours per week (Term-Time – 39 weeks per year) and 10 hours per week (non-term-time -13 weeks per year)
Flexible hours to be agreed between successful applicant and employer.
