Candidate needs to be 5'4" or above and physical fit. A 3 mile brisk walk should feel comfortable.
Must have a "hands on"approach and be adaptable and flexible.
Must like dogs.
One to one in a team of max four. 24 hr shifts in rotation. Private home setting.
All household duties and personal care included.
Job Purpose:
Assists employer with the activities of daily living. Offers support where necessary without being officious. Helps with day-to-day self-care, such as feeding, hygiene and toileting
Personal Care Assistant Job Duties:
- Any task which employer would have carried out for herself pre- disability which she now can't do herself
- Handles household chores, such as laundry, dishes, changing bedding and other normal cleaning
- Employer expects a relaxed but professional attitude with humour
- Helps with self-care, such as toileting, bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, etc.
- Assists with mobility, transferring from one location to another from furniture or car to a wheelchair or vice versa
- Engages in muscle stretching and strengthening exercises as needed to maintain and improve range of movement and mobility
- Dispenses and administers medications as directed
- Any Care and handling required for household pets
Personal Care Assistant Job Skills and Qualifications:
Humour, Compassion, Interpersonal Skills, Strong Verbal Communication Skills, Listening Skills, Physical Stamina and Strength, Positive Attitude, Encouraging and tactful where necessary, Trustworthy, Patient, Detail-Oriented, Helpful, Capable of Working with Minimal Supervision, Self-Motivated, Timely, Awareness of Others' Needs (including other members of staff), Ability to care and handle dog and fish (not at the same time).
Applicant needs to be over 5'4 physically fit (enjoys a brisk 3 mile walk) and have a "hands on" attitude, willing to turn their hand to anything and 'have a go'.
24hr shifts equates to 7 or 8 shifts/ month = 42 hrs/ week average including sleep

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £18,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
