Job Purpose: A Social Care opportunity has become available as a Personal Assistant
for a young boy aged 9. You will assist with everyday tasks and enable him to take part in
activities that he enjoys.

Location: Costessey, NR5.

Details:
- Assisting with personal care (Child is toilet trained and can dress but needs prompting)
- Helping follow daily schedules, transitions between activities, bedtime routines.
- Meal preparation
- Taking child to activities. He likes to go to play centres, the park, and loves
trampolines, but dislikes loud noises.
- Supporting life skills such as self-care

Person specification:
Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable
for the post. My assessment of these, both on application and at interview, will be the
main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting
your application.

Essential requirements:
-Experience working or volunteering with children in a care, education or support role
-Awareness of autism spectrum disorder and how it impacts daily life.
-Experience using structure and routine to support children
-Ability to recognise and respond to signs of distress or sensory overload
-Ability to remain calm under pressure
-Training in positive Behaviour support or de-escalation techniques

Essential qualifications:
- Previous work or volunteering experience with children with additional needs
-Experience in an autism-specific environment
-Minimum High school diploma/ equivalent
-Safeguarding children training
-Paediatric first aid & CPR certificate

Desirable qualifications:
-NVQ/QCF level 2 or 3 in health and social care, childcare or equivalent
-PECs, Makaton or other communication method training

Summary terms and conditions:
· The rate of pay for this position is £12.38 per hour

· Hours and times of work: up to 3 hours per week, flexible over the weekends.

Other duties will be discussed if/when deemed appropriate but everything that will be
expected will be explained prior to acceptance of the position.

- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would
normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

- Access to free training for employed workers.

- If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food
Handling you will be required undertake annual training.

The post is subject to the following:
· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which 
will be covered by the employer.
 
· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last 
employer.

· Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
