Job Purpose

To provide a safe level of care for my son who has a diagnosis of Harlequins Ichthyosis, this is a very severe genetic skin condition.  My son requires constant care and high level of support and a very strict routine in order to maintain good skin and moisture and minimizing infection to maintain his skin condition.

Your role as PA will be to closely follow  his care plan and  to assist with bathing 2 times  a day  and a regime around  creaming which has to be applied every 2 hours  throughout the day along with apply bandaging .

Also the night shift comprises of the need to change dressing and apply creams.  

 My son requires support to identify and attend hobbies and interests that will encourage him to participate with his peers after school or in the school holidays. 

 The key to supporting  my son is flexibility and being aware of his changing needs and adapting as required the support and as to  how and when it is provided  . 

 

Main Duties:

v  Assisting with personal care as required.

v Assist with his bathing routine and creaming and bandaging as and when required.

v  Ensure that bathroom/ toilet is kept clean, disinfected and tidy to avoid the risk of infection.

v  Assist with his evening bed routine by helping into his nightware, creaming and massaging him to sleep. 

v  Support to identify and access hobbies and interests within his peer group.

v   Maintain confidentiality at all times.

v   To be able to work unsupervised.
