Job purpose
We are looking for a friendly, understanding personal assistant to support our son T and enable him to access community and leisure activities.
About the employer
- T is a 13 year old happy, chatty boy, with a lot of energy, who likes trains, computer games, lego, radios (ham radio/walkie talkies, PMR), electronics and animals.
- T has diagnoses of Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.
- T does struggle with social and emotional difficulties and must be supervised at all times due to his tendency of running off and potential challenging behaviours. He needs encouraging engagement to get off screens and out of the house, either for walks or local activities. He does not require support with personal care needs.
Main duties
Social duties, support to:
- Get out of the house and active.
- Keep in touch and socialise with friends.
- Do hobbies such as train spotting/dispatching, dog walking or lego.
- Take part in activities such as Ninja Warrior, swimming, trampolining, ten pin bowling or trips by train.
Domestic duties - getting snacks after school and maybe lunch in the holidays.
Values, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willing to travel and has a good sense of humour.
We are looking for someone who can build a trusting relationship with T and motivate him to get off his screens and out of the house.
T loves animals and we would be very keen to receive applications from candidates who have a dog and would be willing to bring them along sometimes and share with Tony. Playing with and taking a dog for a walk would be something T would really enjoy.
What you can expect to receive
During your first few weeks, while you build your relationship with T, one of his parents will be at home to support you.

- First Aid Awareness
- Person Centred Care
Hours of work
Term Time: 5 hours a week during term time delivered as 2 x 2.5 after school sessions (3 – 5:30), ideally Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
School Holidays: 10 hours a week. During the holidays the working time can be flexible, however, we need to have things planned in advance.
