Our son is 16 years old and has a learning difference. He is NOT autistic and has been through the ASC assessment, but possesses some autistic tendencies. There is no diagnosis, other than the label of Global Developmental Delay.
He is an incredibly sociable boy who is physically still small for his age. He is fun and seeks social interaction constantly. He has an amazing sense of humour and is perceived by the professionals, friends and family as good humoured and a joy to be around. He does present with some challenging behaviour at times, mostly when he can't get his own way and always typically with his parents!
We are seeking a PA who can work with us to develop his independence and increase his confidence in this area. He enjoys varied activities including, bowling, cinema, swimming, mazes, football, being outdoors, games, gardening, as well as lunches out, seaside trips and other similar activities. We see the PA accompanying Billy to these activities and others.
He is a lively boy with a great personality and he is showing us that he is very keen to develop his independence. He is asking to do things without his parents pushing boundaries, and seeking new and exciting activities. He responds well to outgoing, assertive personalities.
His speech is still immature although he can be understood once a stronger relationship has developed.
The successful PA will be a good role model, someone our son can look up to and see as a 'buddy'.
We are looking for a minimum of 4 hours each week, ideally on Sundays, although we can be flexible. I would also like to hear from you if you would like a couple of days after school on Mondays or Fridays or school holiday hours.
Full support will be given by his parents during the transitional phase and beyond. We are looking for is someone who is committed to supporting us in developing our son in the best way possible.
Please apply and I will be in touch to discuss your application further.
