About me: Hi, my name is Aiden. I'm a family oriented, non-binary wheelchair user. I am 30 y/o permanent wheelchair user - non-binary adult (male bodied). Currently living in Bristol with my wife and stepson. My disabilities include advanced Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), autism and mental health difficulties. My mobility is severely affected. My goals in life are to live a happy and fulfilled family life - I'm extremely lucky to have a large family network including friends. I like to be as independent as possible and access the community; this often includes nightlife and live music. I also have plans to travel in Europe.
In the evenings I enjoy gaming, music and discussing science and philosophy.
About the role: I struggle physically with all aspects of life (I am unable to move much), meaning most of the role involves personal care and manual handling. The bungalow is fully adapted for my needs with a wet room and track hoists. I like to keep independent with decision making and choices. We often have family and friends visit, but everyone is extremely welcoming and kind.
I live with my wife and 8-year-old stepson. I hope the person who gets the role will become a lifelong friend as well as PA. At night I use a ventilator, and I use a regular nebuliser/cough assist machine. We have four cats.
The PAs have use of their own room.
