About me
I have a C5/6 spinal cord injury (broken neck) resulting in complete paralysis below the shoulders, partial paralysis of the arms without any hand or finger dexterity. Consequently, I am wheelchair bound and require personal care as well as assistance with daily tasks and activities. Regardless of injury, I enjoy life to the full; I’m active and outgoing, self-motivated and strive for independence in everything I do, and I am seemingly quite humorous too!
The job role
I am looking for someone energetic and outgoing as a Personal Assistant, providing one-to-one support with living independently including all aspects of daily life; personal care, domestic tasks and shopping, as well as support with activities such as daily keep fit, wheelchair rugby, cycling, swimming, art projects, gardening, woodwork and craft projects etc.

A high standard of hygiene and good general health is important to be able to handle the physical tasks of manual handling, pushing, bending, and lifting as detailed in the job description.
Full training provided
Some experience of providing care is preferred, but not essential. You will be guided through tasks listed in the job description which can be learned through me, and personal assistants experienced with my care working together. As you progress, you will be expected to work using your own initiative.
As my needs vary, it is important you are flexible about what the work involves and willing to undertake any other reasonable request. A full job description is available upon request.
Times Required
**Example only**
Start: 18:00 exercise, personal care etc,. Bed at 23:00. Awake 0700 stretch, dress, breakfast & exercise. 10:00am Finish following day - [9 working hours @ £11.50/hr plus 7-hour Sleepover @ £66.50pn].
Working hours may vary to accommodate my needs and will be negotiated with the personal assistant at the earliest possible time. Extra hours will be available at times. All PA's are expected to cover sickness and holidays equally.
