We are looking for between 6-8 hours a day, our preference would be with a split in two for example 10-1pm and again at around 4-8pm, however we are flexible for the right person and would also happily consider 6-8 straight hours from around 11-7pm.
Looking for a very patient, calm and empathetic carer to assist an elderly lady with dementia on Sundays.
Duties include preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner, with gentle encouragement to eat as this can sometimes be a struggle, as well as other refreshments through the day. Light housework, as well as assistance with getting dressed, showered and cleaned - showered and cleaned is especially important.
An understanding of dementia and realisation that the above may be an issue at first, but with patience, gentle encouragement, and care this will get easier over time.
Gentle encouragement to walk and go into the garden when appropriate, previously she was very active and loved long walks until very recently, however has lost all confidence and finds it difficult to leave the house.
We are looking for a carer and a friend, someone to provide social support as well as care support, and to ensure health and dignity which can be lost with dementia. Patience is absolutely key as it may take time to gain trust and bond with each other, there has been lots of change in the last few years. She would love nothing more than a friend to sit quietly in the living room, drink tea and watch quiz shows with.
