Job Purpose
To support a shy 18-year-old girl with a cheeky sense of humour to access the community, building confidence and positive well-being.
Location: Dereham
Details
We are looking for someone who can encourage and engage with ‘H’, helping her to access the community. ‘H’ particularly enjoys shopping, going out for tea and sandwiches, ten pin bowling and trampolining. When at home ‘H’ is often on her iPad, listening to music and playing board games.
‘H’ has severe learning disabilities and is none verbal, relying on simple sign language and symbols to communicate. ‘H’ also has cerebral palsy with left side weakness. Supporting ‘H’ with personal care is also required.
This role may suit a student studying in the field of social care with an interest in learning disabilities.

Essential
- Clean driving licence with relevant business insurance
- A calm patient and attentive manner
- Able to work at the weekends and possibly after school
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of working with young adults who have learning disabilities and simple sign language
Summary terms and conditions
- The rate of pay for this position is £9.37 per hour
- You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
- Hours and times of work: 5 hours per week, mainly weekends or after school hours
The post is subject to the following
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
