Care Assistant for a young girl P/T@ £13.74/hr in Cramlington - FTE - £26.8k - Cramlington - NE23
Job Reference (65b4fedc)
To provide support for a 7-year-old female child with Autism and Epilepsy.
Main Duties
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Support Worker for a 7-year-old girl. Ideally, you will be energetic, creative, full of ideas, and passionate about working with children. We need someone who isn’t afraid to get involved and join her in her favourite activities and be able to think outside the box.
This little girl requires a very structured routine so that she can understand her day fully, otherwise this can have a significant impact on her self-regulation and behaviour. She has no danger of awareness and will need constant supervision, both at home and when out in the community. We’re looking for someone who can offer her the support and care she needs, while making the experience safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling for her.
The support will initially take place at home, until the child has been able to develop a relationship with someone who can truly understand her needs.
This little girl has Epilepsy, and you will be given full training with this aspect of her care needs.
Overview of Role:
- Play & Engage: Help her enjoy her favourite activities both at home and in the community; she enjoys playing with her baby dolls at home, colouring in, crafts, and loves to play with her toys in the garden. She enjoys going to the park when it’s quiet or a little ride out on her scooter.
- Routine Support: Help with developing and following routines, which can provide her with a sense of security. You'll work with her to reinforce positive communication and behaviour.
- Supervision & Safety: Close supervision will be always needed as she has no danger awareness.
- Community Activities: As the relationship and trust builds, you’ll be able to help her access fun activities in the community, going out and about new experiences.
- Empathy & Patience: You’ll need to understand how she communicates, and have patience and empathy, so you can build a strong bond and help her express herself in positive ways.
Hours
4 hours per week during term weeks and then 6 hours per week during all school holiday weeks. During term-time support is required on Saturday mornings for the full 4 hours, alternating weekly between two nights after school, on Wednesday and Friday for 2 hours. On school days, ideally, you will be collecting her from school at 3pm. There is some flexibility around which days the support takes place during school holiday weeks.
Rate of pay
£13.74 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer.
Benefit Scheme ILGPA will be discussed at the interview.
