We are currently looking for a Female Support Worker to provide support for a young person to access the local community with leisure activities.   You will be required to provide 1:1 support for a Child at home and in the community always providing close supervision. The Child suffers from a neurological condition and because of this has some health complexities. You must be able to monitor any physical changes, intervene where necessary and know when urgent medical intervention is required.

Hours: 25 hours per week job share, flexibility can be agreed on working days. 

Role and Responsibilities:  To provide an enabling service of various hours per week, this may be in the family home and within the local community and local activities.  Understand Epilepsy and be able to react quickly to any changes. Full training will be given. To provide support to administer medication, including emergency medication as and when required.

To support with personal care as and when required. Support with dressing, undressing, bathing and personal appearance. Support with age-appropriate community and leisure activities. Attend local facilities including libraries, cinema, arts and crafts.
 ·       You will be required to ensure the safety of this young person at all times.
·        Ensure that you take reasonable care of your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

Using your own car will be required during the course of this employment and be insured for business use.

·        Be able to think on your feet and act quickly

Desirable
·        12 months experience with working alongside Children or the ability to demonstrate this and working in close partnership with their Parents.
·         Full Training will be provided where necessary
Rates of pay  
£13.09 per hour. 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
Hours Breakdown:  Hours can be arranged flexibly with the employer. However, a Thursday evening is always required to support to an organized club.   

Out of pocket expenses will be met by the Employer.

This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and references (Cost to be met by Northumberland County Council).
