Autism Support Specialist for a young woman P/T@ £13.74/hr in Morpeth - Morpeth - NE65

We are looking for a female personal assistant for a young woman with Learning Disabilities and Autism who currently has support on a flexible basis to cater for her appointments, usually from 10am – 1 pm, 5 days per week.  

Her current PA is about to take some short-term sick leave (6-8 weeks), so initially we are looking for someone to provide cover in this period and in the longer term provide backup care. If hours should increase in future, first refusal will be given to the successful applicant.  

Personality wise, this young lady is kind, caring, loving and loud, someone who can be very entertaining and has the ability to make others laugh! Sometimes she can experience anxiety and depression so you will need to be supportive to her emotionally, on these occasions. She can also present with challenging behaviour, therefore you must be able to remain calm and able to cope with stressful situations.  

Things that interest her include walking the dog, going to cafes, watching television and visiting a family farm. It is essential that you like and have no allergies to animals! Could you support these pastimes with her when accessing the community?  

You would be a mentor to this lady in respect of managing her personal care, medication, keeping her environment tidy and guiding her to make good financial choices. 

You must be over 25 years of age and able to drive. You should ideally have experience in this kind of work and be of a caring disposition.
