8 hours per week to be worked by the PA on flexible terms with agreement with the employer.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to enable my son to access activities in the community and at home when required. Activities that he enjoys include playing guitar/listening to rock music, going to the park, cinema, swimming, hobbies and crafting and going to groups and social activity sessions (should the opportunity present itself and as Covid-19 restrictions are lifted). Some occasional personal care may be required. For example, help with handwashing and dressing. My son is a friendly, outgoing and charming young person and has all of the common characteristics associated with Williams Syndrome. Experience of working with children with SEN possibly including autistic characteristics is essential. Although improving, my son does not always have awareness of danger when out and about and requires close supervision to remain safe; for example, he does not always recognise road safety hazards. Given half the chance he would be happy to wander off to meet and talk other people, often adults in preference to people his own age. Although diagnosed with Williams Syndrome, which can present some physical health problems as well as certain behavioural tendencies including acute anxiety at times, my son is currently in good health. My son recognises the need for, and practices social distancing to the best of his abilities but needs occasional support in this.
