Job Description

About me
I am a friendly 48-year-old lady with a good sense of humour. I live with my partner and our cat and value positive, supportive working relationships. I use a wheelchair and, because my physical and mental health conditions affect me differently from day to day, I am looking for an additional PA to join my established team.

The role
You will help me maintain my wellbeing, independence and quality of life. The role includes:
·         Support with health, wellbeing, activities, travel and community participation
·         Personal care when needed, including showering, dressing, hair care and continence support.
·         Meal preparation and batch cooking, including safe gluten-free food handling.
·         Monitoring fatigue and low blood sugar, responding to CGM alerts and supporting food and fluid intake.
·         Wheelchair support indoors and outdoors, including safely transporting a foldable wheelchair.
·         Light domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, bedding and keeping the home organised.
·         Medication prompts, appointments, diary tasks, administration and rota planning.

About you
·         You will be caring, dependable and confident working both independently and as part of a team. You will also need:
·         Previous care or Personal Assistant experience.
·         Confidence providing personal care.
·         Experienced preparing fresh gluten-free meals.
·         A reliable, flexible and punctual approach, with respect for confidentiality and boundaries.
·         Confidence using a smartphone, WhatsApp, shared calendars and electronic rotas.
·         A full driving licence, reliable transport and appropriate business insurance.
·         To be comfortable around a cat and physically able to handle a foldable wheelchair following training.
·         This role is open to female applicants under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Hours, pay and benefits
·         15 hours per week, worked between 11.30am and 10pm, with additional hours sometimes available for sickness and holiday cover.
·         £12.89 per hour for daytime hours.
·         Paid induction, shadowing and mandatory training, including Moving and Handling, Food Safety, hypoglycaemia and CGM support, and gluten-free food handling.
·         Holiday entitlement equivalent to 5.6 weeks of your normal working pattern.
·         Once we have built a good working relationship, there may also be the option of additional waking overnight support at £12.71 per hour.

Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check paid for by the employer, two satisfactory references (including your current or most recent employer) and a three month probation period.
