PURPOSE OF JOB
We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support an elderly Asian man who has had a stroke and has a diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
The Personal Assistant will be required to carry out some domestic tasks. The PA is also required to keep the gentleman company and encourage him to get out of bed and maybe to even go in to the community. Due to his fluctuating condition, some days he may not feel able to go out therefore the PA should support him in what he wishes to do that day.
The hours will be arranged flexibly with the employer for 10 hours per week. This will be provided in lunch time (12-1pm) and evening calls (3-4pm) to ensure his needs are met and provide any personal care, if needed.
It is not necessary but is desirable that the PA has a full UK driving licence.
MAIN DUTIES
The Personal Assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature.
Domestic Tasks
· The gentleman requires help when eating due to hand tremors
· Some general housekeeping may also be required
General
· Support with prompting medication as and when required
· Support and encouragement to get out and about in the local community
- General sitting service support
Any other request that I reasonably make
SUPERVISION
My personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. S/he must always ask what I require and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistant I need or how it should be carried out. S/he should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.
