Job Title                    Temporary PA to provide cover for approximately 4 months in LS7/LS8 
                                    
Job Role                   To support a gentleman with schizophrenia and lewy body                                 
                                  which is a form of dementia. 
 
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal behaviour, strange speech, and a decreased ability to understand reality. Other symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, hearing voices that do not exist, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and lack of motivation.
 
Car Driver                 Desirable – if the workers use their own car expenses will 
                                 be reimbursed 
                               
Hours                        Wednesdays & Thursdays 9.30am - 4.30pm                          
                                                                                      
Location                   ordinarily in the community and Leeds. To collect the customer from LS7 and go to LS8.         
 
Probationary Period   3 months    
 
DBS                          will need to be completed prior to starting work    
 
Training                    Available and be paid to attend                                                           .                       
 
To support a gentleman in the home and community who enjoys meeting people and is very sociable. He likes to go into the town centre and likes to visits cafes and enjoys visiting the hairdressers.  
 
He is socially isolated and the support worker would promote his independence and give him opportunities to interact with others in the community.
 
It is imperative that when activities are planned these are not changed or added to as this may cause anxiety.
 
Time keeping is particularly important and also if you are taking holidays it is paramount you give the agreed notice. Also if you are expected to arrive late please let his sister know who will be your employer.
 
Skills
 
We are looking for an enthusiastic support worker who will have an understanding of the gentleman’s diagnoses.  
 
You must be confident in taking him out and especially be alert to dangers that you may encounter or be mindful of his behaviours and how this may affect others or himself.  You will be able to draw on your experience of working with people with disabilities to find ways to engage him reassure and calm him as well as having fun.  
 
You will receive a contract of employment and the first three months will be a probationary period therefore if during this time either party is unhappy the employment can be terminated. 
 
You will be given 5.6 annual leave pro-rata.
 
Confidentiality is of paramount importance at all times.
 
If you are provided with any keys etc. when you leave my employment you will need to return these.
