Main Duties
To provide support for an 11-year-old male child with Global Development Delay.
We are looking for a support worker to enable this child to access leisure activities within the local community. He has lots of interests which he would love to become involved in with the help of a support worker, including Karate and Kick Boxing clubs. He is a very bubbly little boy who loves to talk, especially about buses, smiles constantly, has a great sense of humour and loves his music. He can get anxious if left to do things alone and therefore needs lots of encouragement. Support is also needed for his social communication skills so that he can learn about not saying anything inappropriate.
Hours
5 hours per week during term time weeks, then 15 hours per week during all school holiday weeks.
Rate of pay
£10.82 per hour.
Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Any out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant must:
· have experience and a positive understanding about young people who have disabilities
· have a genuine interest in working with young people with complex needs
· have a high degree of initiative
· be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised
· be flexible
· have a happy, positive and caring nature
· respect confidentiality
Car driver not essential as the child loves to travel on buses.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.
