My wife and I are looking for a male Personal Assistant to support my father who is an elderly Asian man. He suffered a stroke last year and has been diagnosed with an onset of Parkinson’s. We would want the Personal Care Assistant to carry out personal care and a few domestic duties, helping with housework and cooking.

We would also like the PA to keep our father company, encouraging him to get out of bed and walk around inside, and spend some time in the garden when the weather is nice. Due to his changeable condition, he may not always feel like going out every day, and we would like the PA to respect his wishes when this is the case.

MAIN DUTIES: The Personal Care Assistant will need to undertake the following duties; and may on occasion be asked to carry out other tasks that are similar in nature:

Personal Care: assist with access to the shower, assist with dressing, assist with toileting (external catheter) and provide any necessary cleaning.
Help with eating (my father suffers from hand tremors) and reminding him to take his medication.
Domestic Tasks: heat and warm up his meals, prepare evening meal every other day. Encourage him to get out and about in the local community, and any other request that he may reasonably have

The hours are flexible, about 18-25 hours per week and exact times can be agreed with the employer (my father).

It is not necessary but would be nice if his PA has a full UK driving licence. References will be sought and a trial probation period will be put in place with the right PA.
