You will be providing support for a young man who identifies as non binary, with Autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, sensory and social communication needs. And depression. 
 
Experience of working with young adults with Autism is essential.
 
Currently the hours at 9 hours a week term time, 12 a week hours non term time, this is subject to change when he leaves college. 
 
Currently the hours 9 hours would need to be on a  Monday or Tuesday afternoon and or evenings and weekends. 
 
He likes the PA to have a routine and see him weekly but also have some available evenings and weekends for trips, days out, etc. 
 
Your main role will be to develop a close relationship with him so that you can try various strategies to encourage him to develop independent living skills and  social skills.
 
Personal care , such a self care , hygiene, keeping his living space clean, managing his finances, learning to shop for clothes and foods, preparing simple meals, washing his clothes etc.  This would involve prompting and engaging him in healthy routines
 
Social skills, encouraging and supporting him to develop a social life, going to places, events and make friends and try new experiences. He has limited experience of travelling alone, and using trains and buses. 
 
His safe space is his room at home, however he does enjoy live music , rock, electro pop, rap. Visiting comic book shops, cinema and theme park trips. 
 
This young man enjoys playing video games, board games, yu gi oh, comic books, anime, Japanese culture.

He will expect you to socialise, chat and play these games with him.
 
He is a very deep thinker, very strong minded and enjoys having a passionate debates and can find it a challenge to see things from another persons point of view.  He likes to talk about books, films, tv shows, politics, music, world issues. 
 
The PA will be expected to do some modelling so he can learn by observing, such as shopping and make a meal for him, making phone calls with him, travelling with him.
 
He can be challenging as he will need to build a relationship with you and is reluctant to try new things and may point blank refuse so you will need experience of this kind of challenging behaviour and be committed to building a long term relationship with him . 
 
This is permanent position (While funding is permitted).
 
Training and support will be provided by the employer, you will be subject to a three month probation period and regular performance and salary reviews will be provided.
