Job Purpose:
To support W, a dad of two, living with vascular dementia. The role involves supporting W to access the community, increase his independence and improve his wellbeing.
Details:
· To provide support to W in order to address the isolation and depression that dementia causes. W lives in a village with no services or bus route, so he is unable to get out and about. With your support, he would like to: go shopping; have a trip out to the coast; go to the cinema, as he’s an avid film addict; or just go out for coffee and cake, which he loves (too much!)!.
· To provide W with support at home with tasks he can't motivate himself to do. W struggles to have a reason or purpose to get up and sleeps a lot, which is compounded by the exhaustion of undertaking everyday tasks. Such activities may include: spending time with the children; sorting out the garage, his office space or clothes etc; and organising the backing up of his photos on the computer, as he is a keen photographer.
· Providing companionship to W, who is exceptionally intelligent and enjoys good conversation. His career was in computer programming and web design, but originally he gained a degree in astrophysics. Music is very important to him and he has always played the guitar. His memory is good, and the dementia mostly impacts his higher executive functioning skills, mobility and depression from the diagnosis and prognosis.

Summary terms and conditions
- The rate of pay for this position is £9.37 per hour.
- You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Hours and times of work: 8 hours per week, to be worked over 2-3 days, flexible due to family needs to be discussed further at interview.
- The annual holiday entitlement will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
