Personal Assistant wanted for 10 year old boy with Autism - up to 6 hours per week, LS16 - LEEDS - LS16

I require a Personal Assistant (PA) for my son Leon, who is 10 years old and has a diagnosis of Autism. A PA is needed to support Leon in the community to access activities and develop his independence. The PA will support Leon to attend a gym or parkour class (when possible, depending on COVID-19 restrictions), which may be during the evening or on a weekend. They may also be required to collect Leon from school and spend time with him in our home. There will be times when Leon will need support going on public transport, going to the shops or going to the park. Leon has a good theoretical understanding of issues such as personal hygiene and road safety but requires lots of encouragement and reminders in these areas. He also requires support in identifying and managing his emotions and social communication with peers.

Leon is very articulate and enjoys talking about his interests, which can vary but often centre around computer games, YouTube, books and films. He loves Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon and Minecraft. He also enjoys building Lego and doing puzzles. He enjoys reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, Tom Gates and Harry Potter, as well as fact-based books which he often uses to make lists. He is good at drawing and has an excellent memory.

 We have funding to employ a PA for 6 hours per week, however exact hours/times may vary and can be discussed in more detail on application.
