JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE Personal Assistant
HOURS 5.5 hours/week flexible (to be arranged between us)
Rate of Pay £12.44
Probation period 6 months
LOCATION Our own home and in the wider community
PURPOSE OF JOB
**GREAT OPPORTUNITY: Personal assistant required for a 12 year old boy with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. LEEDS LS6**
Are you interested in supporting our son with accessing activities at home and within his local and wider community?
SEN experience would be desirable but not essential. Most importantly we would like someone with a fun and friendly personality to build a positive relationship with our son
“I am a happy, friendly and fun 12 year old boy. I enjoy going to the park, sensory play (I really love water play activities), swimming and going to soft play areas. I enjoy playing with Lego, counting blocks and singing. I can communicate with Makaton along with some verbal language, I also have a communication book I can use if I am struggling to find the words or signs. I have no awareness of danger so when out in the community you will need to keep me safe”
Routine is particularly important so we need someone who is conscientious
We have 5.5 hours per week, we are happy for these to be used flexibly over weekends and school holidays as long as these are planned in advance so we can prepare our son. There is the opportunity for additional hours in school holidays too!
DBS checks and 2 references will be taken up

ESSENTIAL
- Non smoker
- Excellent time management, communication and listening skills
- Willingness to work flexibly
- Confidentiality is exceptionally important
DESIRABLE
- Experience of working with autistic people
- Ability to use Makaton
- Interest in the piano or music more generally
- Own car and UK driving licence
MAIN DUTIES
My PA will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature:
- Support our son to access the activities he enjoys both in the community and at home
- Ensure he is safe and secure at all times
- Encourage him to try new activities as and when appropriate
