PURPOSE OF JOB

A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support my son who has a diverse identity, and the PA needs to be an open-minded and understanding person. He requires support with socialising and befriending.
The successful PA will support him to accessing public transport (short journeys) and taking part in activities including swimming, shopping and admin tasks. The PA will support him with communicating with others to build his confidence and increase his independence. He finds it challenging communicating with people he doesn’t know.
He is restricted with his back pain, where he had to have two back rods surgically inserted to help straighten his back due to Kyphosis. Swimming would help with easing his back pain, and he likes walking for a limited time, up to half an hour. The PA needs to be mindful of his back pain, and cold weather affects his back also.

My son can have meltdowns and panic attacks if he gets overwhelmed, and the PA would need to provide reassurance, and ensure he is in a safe environment to help him calm down. He is awaiting an outcome of an Autism assessment.

I will reimburse you for activities and food when you’re supporting my son, and I’ll need receipts.

SUPERVISION

My personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work.  They must always ask what I require and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out. They should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.
