Undertaking a range of duties to support the Client, you will work closely with other members of the team in providing the highest standards of health, personal and social care.
 
 You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, backed by previous care experience (preferred), however full training will be given to those with the right approach and attitude.
 
The post requires that you work independently to a very great extent at times and closely with the family and others.  The post therefore requires that you work and conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to the employer.  Reliability, initiative, integrity and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this post.
 
Our Client is a 10-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy, He attends a local specialist school during term time. He needs complete assistance with all of his activities of daily living.  He has seizures and takes fluids, nutrients and medication by gastrostomy. 
 
He has a purposely adapted vehicle to enable his PA’s to take him out in the community.
 
He currently lives with his family in the LS25 area.
 
As the child attends school in term time, we are looking for someone to provide support after school from 3.00pm – 9.00pm, 3 shifts per week. There may be additional hours available during school holidays and weekends.
 
It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. adults at risk, children or both). Enhanced DBS with barred checklist is required.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Specific:
·         Maintaining personal care to include:
 
Ø  PEG feeding
Ø  Washing /Bathing
Ø  Dressing 
Ø  Teeth cleaning 
Ø  Nail care 
Ø  Continence care
 
·         Maintaining nutrition
·         Maintaining physical management
·         Maintaining general health
·         Communicating using sign, symbols and commination aid devises
·         Checking and cleaning of equipment 
·         Driving the child’s large adapted vehicle
·         Taking and collecting the child to and from school on occasions
 
General:
·         Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace.
·         Promote effective communication and relationships.
·         Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
·         Establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship
·         Be responsible for the clients personal welfare
·         Travel to hospitals or elsewhere for therapeutic care and appointments
·         Liaise with other agencies as required
·         Complete daily records as advised including; time sheets, daily record sheets, medication sheets, petty cash sheets and critical incidents.
·         Attend review meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer
·         Attend training sessions as arranged
