PA (dementia/mental health) for a senior lady P/T@ £60/weekly in BS40 - FTE - £39.0k - Bristol - BS40

Job Reference (a07c5cbf)

I am looking for a self employed personal assistant for my mother , she is a very sweet originally swiss german lady who has two full time 24 hour carers, as she is unable to look after herself due to her mental health.
My mother lives in a rural location that necessitates a car driver.
I already have a team of PA's, one of my Sunday ladies is unfortunately unable to continue with her Sunday as she has ever growing family & church commitments.
You will be needed every other Sunday.
It is also useful to have another member to my team so any sickness or holiday can be covered.
I need another PA to relieve the 24 hour carers and also to check in on both my mother and the carer as sometimes we get 24 hour carers who cannot drive and therefore sometimes they will need dropping off at a supermarket to do their shopping or just to get out.
This role is currently alternate sundays, she likes being taken to church, to be followed by a coffee out so ensuring the 24 hour carer has at least 2 hours break.
My mother is very easy to be with if you have the right understanding for her mental health.   She has a very limited almost childlike view of the world and at times will make no sense at all, she is extremely vulnerable and has no comprehension at all of her own mental health this requires patience and understanding.
A basic overview of her likes and activites.
My mother needs above all to be treated with dignity and respect as any client!
She loves going to church, being with animals and she also absolutely loves children.
She loves singing and is part of a local "singing for the brain" group once a month.
She has regular Zumba, Yoga and art therapy.
My mother may sometimes need to be taken to appointments like the opticians, dentist etc.
The hours may involve just staying with Ellen in her house as sometimes she (understandably) does not want to go out.
During her life she has suffered alot of physical and mental abuse from her husband, who passed away in 2010 and since then she has lived with 24 hour carers in her own home.
She is quiet and can have ups and downs, she can be super high or super low, in either situation she needs someone by her side to give her reassurance and stability. Last year she fell and broke her wrist and knee, and then went on to break her hip (found to have low bone density) so she is now a lot more unsteady on her feet, and has understandably lost confidence.  She has physio and weekly personal training to continue monitoring & improving her strength and mobility.
Her mobility will need constant monitoring as she can be  unstable in either situation of being high or low.
My mother has extremely poor teeth so is only able to eat soft food (her teeth are checked by a dentist however she is too scared to have anything done), she is a poor eater so it is also important for her to have some form of fluid whilst you are with her, and if possible something small and manageable to eat.
Whatever is eaten and drank during your support hours will need to be reported to the 24 hour carer as it is closely monitored.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to be a part of and enhance my mothers life!
