Female Personal Care Assistant needed to support a male adult in Shildon  - £9.50 per hour, full time hours (over 30 hrs per week offered), contract, no zero-hours.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to work in a care role where you are valued and appreciated as part of a close team. As a PA  you will work 1-2-1 with the one individual client providing a high standard of care without the usual pressures of ordinary care settings. You will work with the individual client receiving care (your employer) who receives 24 hour care, senior PAs as well as other healthcare professionals when required to do so. The work setting is in the individual's home and you will have tea/coffee making facilities, kitchen access and toilet/bathroom facilities.

Shift Schedule: ***The schedule alternates weekends/ off days. You will work one weekend Saturdays and Sundays but the following week you won't. And this repeats as one weekend in/ one weekend off.***
Monday - Wednesday  – 4pm-8.30pm
Thursday & Friday  – OFF
Saturday & Sunday  – 11am-8.30pm

**These days/ times are NOT negotiable. These days/ times will be worked regardless of Bank Holidays, Christmas, New Year or any other seasonal period**

Duties Will Include:

-Preparation of food and drinks.
-Assistance to eat and drink.
-Repositioning of legs, body and arms when required and at planned intervals.
-Maintenance of skin integrity.
-Personal care and continence care.
-Light housework and laundry duties.
-Medication administration.
-Record keeping.
-Continually promoting the dignity, privacy and preferences of the individual and respecting the individual's right to choice and independence.
-Responding to the individual's call for assistance, assisting and supporting as necessary.
-Dog walking.

  Preferred Skills (But not essential):
-Good cooking skills.
-Some experience in having worked with people with physical disabilities such as MS.
-Moving and Handling of Persons training/ knowledge.
-Knowledge of continence care of leg-bags and conveen application.
**All essential training will be provided.**

-Smoker or someone who does not mind the smell of smoke as the employer's home is a smoking household.
-Animal friendly as the household does have a small, friendly dog.
-Good written and reading English skills as record keeping is required in the form of daily well-being journal, medication record book, food & fluids dairies.
-Be able to take and act on instructions as given to you by the individual or senior staff.

Previous experience in care preferred but not essential as training will be provided. There is a standard 12 week probation period.
 
 All candidates will be subject to a DBS check (paid by the employer).
