Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity?

IBK are supporting a family to recruit an experienced PA to support their 9-year-old son. The role of PA is to support the young boy to engage in an activity of choice and to keep him safe.

This young boy is an intelligent child who has a diagnosis of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), high sensory needs and Tourette’s.

The family are looking for a PA to encourage this young boy to grow in confidence and independence. He is very active and likes being outdoors and going to skateparks (and to trampoline parks when they are open). He is also an avid gamer!

The family are looking to recruit someone who has the skills to support their son well and at the same time build a trusting relationship with him to keep him smiling.

The family live in the S17 area of Sheffield.

Hours of work:

5 hours per week, which will be split over a number of sessions. Possibly 1 or 2 days per week.
Weekends or after 2pm during the week.
The hours are flexible and can be agreed between the PA and family.

Person Specification:

Essential

Experience of working with children or young people with disabilities, including ASD and PDA.
Willing to learn from the young person and their family.
Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.
Be respectful in the family-home.
Have a genuine desire to enhance the young person’s life and boost their self-confidence.
A good sense of humour.
Must be patient and empathetic.
Have a resilient nature.
Happy to commit to this work and family.
