Enthusiastic PA required for 6 hours per week @ £9.18 p/h to support a young man in LS27 - LEEDS - LS27

Job Reference (cd271c8a)

Job title: Personal Assistant/ Care-Worker – 6 Hours per week Monday – Friday in Leeds 27

Hours: up to 6 hours per week

Rate of pay: £9.18 per hour

Location: at my home (LS27) and out in the community

Purpose of job:
A personal assistant (PA) is required to support a young who has autism and is currently quite isolated. Nathan requires support around the home and accessing social activities in the community. The aim of the PA support is to build up his social skills, improve his confidence and independence. This support will give Nathan an opportunity to develop his skills, become more independent and engage in activities he enjoys independently of his family.

Nathan is very passionate about football (particularly Leeds United), gaming and batman. He would like to find someone who shares these interests to engage in activities together. Whilst accessing the community, the PA could accompany Nathan shopping, play football in the park, or go walking together. Prior to Covid-19, Nathan would attend the Leeds Autism Hub; when they reopen the PA will support him to access the centre via public transport and throughout his visits. Nathan is also looking to take on some voluntary work in charity shop therefore the PA could help arranging this.

Whilst at home, a large part of the role will be prompting personal care and supporting with his personal hygiene, as this is something he currently struggles with and requires some encouragement. The PA may also cook meals with Nathan and teach him basic recipes to become more independent, and clean up afterwards! Ideally, the PA will be able to suggest ideas for activities and tasks you could do together; for example, prompting him to do chores or clean his bedroom.

Due to personal care being provided a male PA is desirable.

You will be reimbursed for any additional expenses but these will need to be agreed prior to engaging in activities.

Your role is also subject to any other reasonable requests that Nathan or I might make.
