JOB PURPOSE: | To provide support for a 16 year old young woman with OCD, Mental Health needs and Autism

Main Duties
A support worker is required, with experience of working with young adults with additional needs, to support the client to access activities within the local community.
The young woman requires support to access activities outside of the home and develop independent life skills. She can be anxious around strangers, and it is important the worker can develop a sound working relationship to support her with confidence.
The young woman has a keen interest in art and craft activities, being outside especially the beach and making use of TikTok. She would prefer somebody who shares similar interests or is willing to participate with her chosen activities.
Preference would be for somebody with a calm, caring nature with a good understanding of working with young adults with ASD, learning disabilities and mental health issues. When anxious the young woman can demonstrate some adverse behaviour and become upset. Somebody able to support her regulate her emotions would be preferred.
She has no awareness of risk or danger, and the worker will be required to always keep the young woman safe.
A car driver with access to a vehicle and business use experience would be preferred but not essential.
Hours
- 3 hours per week x 52 weeks
- Day and hours of work are open to discussion with the employer
Rate of pay
- £10.82 per hour.
- Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
- Any out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant must:
- have experience, a positive understanding and a genuine interest in working with young people with complex needs
- have a high degree of initiative
- be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised
- be flexible
- have a happy, positive and caring nature
- respect confidentiality
Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
